When Hazrat Ali was passing through a province with his army, the rich men of the province according to their custom came out the greet him. They offered the best Persian horses as gifts and requested his permission to act as hosts to his army. He met them very courteously, but politely refused to accept the gifts and their invitation saying: "you have paid your taxes and receiving anything from you, even voluntarily and willingly is a crime against the state." But when they persisted, he ordered that the horses could be accepted instead of their taxes, and the expense of feast was paid out for war.

بد رفتاری!

Once, one of the governors of Ali ill treated the Bani Tameem Clan.

The abused Clan complained to Hazrat Ali. He wrote a letter to

his governor and said "You should not behave  like a beast

with your subjects. They are respectable people and should

be treated  respectfully. You are representing me and your

 treatment is considered as mine.  Your first  consideration

should be the welfare of those over whom you rule,  so treat

them with respect and  consideration

Story 3

The Leper

مرد جذامی

After the death of Hazrat Ali, the world knew that he had provided a shelter

for a leper who was suffering from a contagious disease.

The shelter was outside the town. He used to go there everyday, dress the

leper's wounds, feed him with his own hands, wash him, make his bed in

order and carry him out of the shelter frequently so that he may get fresh air.

Occasionally, relatives and friends of Hazrat Ali came into the shelter and

found a leper in it. They understood this act of humanity after Ali had been

murdered.

Reception

Othman Ibne Honaif was one of the trusted disciples and faithful

followers of Hazrat Ali. He was governor of a province and was once invited

to a reception which consisted of an extravagant dinner. When Imam Ali

heard of this, he wrote a very reprehending letter to him. In this letter he

criticized his action and said that he went to a dinner where only rich people

were invited and the poor were scornfully excluded.

A Jewish scholar came to Hazrat Ali and asked him "O Abul-Hassan", have

you ever observed your Lord? Imam Ali answered "I don't worship the God

that I have not observed, woe to you, the eyes can't see the almighty God,

.but He sees eyes, and the hearts see Him by the sincerity of belief
